How I Beat SEO Agencies

(December 2025 Update: Accuracy SEO is now ranked #1 for “Evansville SEO,” “Search Engine Optimization Evansville,” and just about every other keyword related to local SEO services. You can still enjoy the rest of the article with the benefit of this new information.)

When I started working on this website in June of 2024, I didn’t know how difficult it would be to rank for keywords related to SEO. After all, I was competing against other SEO providers. Some of them were local, while others were massive agencies based in major cities. These should be the exact people who know the most about Search Engine Optimization!

About five months later, I find myself ranking in the top 3 for all of my target local keywords.

My Experience with Local Keywords

Due to the expertise of the competition, it was with pleasure and curiosity that I watched Accuracy SEO move up the rankings. Within a couple of short months of buying my domain name I was in the Local Pack just below the sponsored section for some of my local targets. A few months later I found myself ranking in the top 10 of organic results for some of my target keywords.

Today, about five months after buying my domain, I got an alert that I’d moved into the #2 spot for my top target keyword: Evansville SEO. So who’s ranked #1? It’s a local business with an exact match name and URL for that keyword!

It’s pretty difficult to outrank a website for their own business name, but I’m starting to think that with a few more months work even that may be possible.

Competition Levels in Cities Like Evansville Are Inherently Low

While competition levels are bound to vary from industry to industry, with smart and determined SEO, I have every reason to believe that you can be successful in local search, even if your website is just starting out.

In cities like Evansville, Newburgh, and Henderson, competitions levels are usually low. With a properly set up Google Business Profile and a handful of links, you can rise to the Local Pack in just a few short months. With smart and determined SEO, you can rise to the top for local organic results.

It was surprisingly easy to rank for keywords like “Search Engine Optimization Evansville.” In essence I only needed:

  • A fast and well-optimized website
  • A correctly set up Google Business Profile
  • About 12 pages of targeted content
  • A half dozen or so incoming links
  • Under six months work, total!

While I was prepared to double, triple, or multiply those numbers by ten, in the end that’s all it took to rank as one of the top three SEO providers in Evansville.

What I’ll Do After Ranking for All My Core Keywords

Now that I’m ranking in the top 3 for most of my core keywords, it’s time to expand my keyword targets. I may start looking at keywords like:

  • “Newburgh SEO”
  • Henderson SEO
  • and possibly new services like “Evansville Web Design”

Thankfully, the possibilities for expansion in the world of SEO are endless. Once your visibility rises in a city like Evansville, you can expand into the Tri-State area or branch out into entirely new fields of service! If you need new ideas, rest assured that our keyword research will uncover plenty.
