Case Study: First 4 Months of SEO

Accuracy SEO went live with a barebones website around the beginning of July 2024, and the site wasn’t really “finished” until mid-August. Since I wasn’t doing any advertising other than SEO, I knew it would take some time to get eyes on the site. I was pleased to have my first clients sign on in November, and by the beginning of December I had client analytics data.

Since my first clients weren’t receiving data until December, I haven’t been able to create any case studies until now. In April of 2025, I can finally deliver a real-world example of the results a low-traffic website might expect after four months of SEO.

Background: Understanding the Client

Site History

This client runs a small business in Evansville specializing in yoga therapy: Life Renewal Yoga. When we began SEO, her site had been live for about two years. Unfortunately, Google Analytics and Google Search Console weren’t in place, so historical data pre-dating SEO was unavailable.

The client paid her first invoice on November 21st, 2024.

Site Condition

When we started SEO, Life Renewal Yoga had:

  • Domain Authority 2/100
  • 8 indexed pages
  • A handful of linking root domains (no link building history)

Our Approach to the Campaign

Although Life Renewal Yoga offers services through Zoom on a national level, due to the site’s low Domain Authority and lack of existing rankings, we opted to focus on localized keywords and the map pack.

Life Renewal Yoga’s Google Business Profile was set up as a “Yoga Instructor,” not a “Yoga Studio.” Due to the large number of yoga studios in Evansville, ranking for basic yoga keywords like “Evansville yoga” was an uphill battle. Nevertheless, early data indicated that all existing site impressions were from exactly these generic local keywords.

We started by optimizing existing pages for generic keywords like “yoga near me,” then gradually created targeted pages for more niche targets like “senior yoga” and “prenatal yoga.”

Organic Traffic Data Over Four Months via Google Analytics

Google Analytics | Organic Traffic Sessions December 1st – March 31st

This chart from Google Analytics shows Organic Traffic Sessions (users arriving at the site by clicking search results from any search engine). I have not included visits from direct traffic, referrals, or any other sources, but adding in these traffic sources would approximately double total sessions. I made sure not to click on any organic results myself, and advised the client to take the same precautions. The numbers are as follows:

  • December: 20
  • January: 29
  • February: 22
  • March: 38

Because of low visitor numbers at the beginning of the campaign, progress was modest but substantial. After one month of SEO, the site had a quick 50% increase in organic sessions. February was a regression, but March was up again, resulting in nearly a 100% increase in organic sessions after 4 months of SEO.

Clicks and Impressions Data via Google Search Console

Google Search Console | Clicks and Impressions December 1st – April 17th

The picture is even clearer when viewed from Google Search Console. This chart from Google Search Console shows Clicks and Impressions from Google only (unlike Google Analytics, this chart does not include clicks from Bing, Yahoo, and so forth).

The pattern is plain to see. When looking at the blue line (clicks from Google search engine results pages) we learn that in December the site experienced long stretches with no clicks. By mid-January, the clicks became more steady. In March, multiple clicks per day started to accumulate. As can be expected due to the cumulative nature of SEO, the best results occur at the most recent point in the chart— early April.

The purple line tracks Impressions— each time a user saw Life Renewal Yoga listed on Google SERPs, but may not have clicked the link. In early December, impressions were as low as 11 per day. By April’s best day, impressions rose about 700% to 76.

Interactions Data via Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile Interactions | November 1st 2024 – April 17th 2025

Finally, a quick look at the Google Business Profile interactions— people who clicked on the listing shown in the map pack or Google Maps results.

For various reasons, we didn’t optimize the Google Business Profile until March 2025. Although we have very little data since that optimization took place, the results are clear. Google Business Profile interactions had been declining since November 2024. When we optimized the profile, interactions rose over 500% from 11 in February to 58 in March. Although it’s only April 17th at the time of this screenshot, results are approximately on pace for April to match March.

Summing Up the First Four Months

I do my best to manage client expectations at the beginning of an SEO campaign. Because every industry is different, it’s difficult to know exactly how your website will fare against the competition.

What we’ve seen with Life Renewal Yoga is a modest but typical result. With a 100% increase in organic visitors and a 700% increase in impressions over four months, this client is well on their way to a successful SEO campaign. Because results are cumulative, I suspect that continued SEO will build on these results further, with backslides to former numbers unlikely.

Is SEO Right for You?

While your site may fare better or worse than Life Renewal Yoga, SEO may be your best path to long-term business growth. With SEO costs low compared to Pay Per Click (PPC) or traditional marketing campaigns, a $300 per month investment may lead to 300% visitor increases within the first year of an SEO campaign.
